Protect Your Health with UVC Technology

Modern homes and buildings are built airtight to maintain a consistent climate through every season.  Although airtight homes contribute to higher energy savings, and comfortable and consistent temperatures, they can also contribute to poor indoor air quality.  The quality of the air that you breathe indoors is directly impacted by several chemical and biological contaminants, affecting your health, comfort, and productivity.  While we spend an average of 90% of our time indoors, our indoor air quality does not have to be compromised.  With effective solutions, such as Allanson’s AirGuard C600 HEPA + UVC air purification systems, you can continue to breathe easily and with peace of mind.

Biological Contaminants and Respiratory Infections

Biological contaminants, such as bacteria, viruses (including flu and measles viruses), mold, and allergens, cause respiratory infections and allergic reactions by contaminating indoor air and surfaces.  The pollutants thrive in damp, poorly ventilated areas, leading to influenza, pneumonia, and other complications.

The measles virus is an airborne infectious disease that is highly contagious.  According to the CDC, measles can spread from an infected person via coughing and sneezing.  In addition, it can cause serious health complications, especially in children younger than 5 years old.

UVC Technology

UVC light has been used for decades to disinfect contaminated air, surfaces, and water.  A highly effective method for sterilization, UVC light (254 nm wavelength range) has the power to inactivate the molecular structure of microorganisms, preventing them from multiplying, and eventually eradicating them from the air that you breathe.  The process is known as ultraviolet germicidal irradiation (UVGI), and dates back to the 19th century.  The American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Engineers highlights in detail this process in their ASHRAE technical study.

W.F. Wells introduced the concept of airborne disease transmission and researched its transmission via UV light in 1934.  In 1937, Wells’ research led to the installation of upper-room UV systems in a Philadelphia day school to combat measles.

UVC air purification systems effectively inactivate the measles virus by penetrating its outer structure and damaging its RNA, which prevents the virus from replicating or causing infection.  Also know as germ inactivation, the molecular bonds are broken within the genetic material, rendering the virus harmless.

Protect Your Health

Measles has been in the recent news with an increasing number of cases in North America and internationally, as travel limits the control of transmission.  There are several ways you can safeguard your and your family’s health to help prevent the spread of airborne infections like measles.

  1. Wash your hands frequently with soap and water

  2. Cough in a napkin or in your elbow (avoid coughing in open air where the bacteria can stay active for up to 2 hours)

  3. Follow CDC recommendations for Measles Vaccines

  4. Use combination UVC + HEPA Air Purification systems in indoor spaces

Allanson’s AirGuard C600 HEPA + UVC Commercial Ceiling Unit

With over 2 decades of experience in the UV air disinfection space, and nearly a century of engineering experience, Allanson has recently introduced AirGuard C600 HEPA plus UVC Commercial Ceiling Unit.

Backed by over 20 years of expertise in UV air disinfection and nearly a century of engineering excellence, Allanson has recently launched the AirGuard C600 HEPA + UVC Commercial Ceiling Unit.

Allanson’s AirGuard C600 is a commercial-grade UVC ceiling air purification system featuring multi-stage filtration and a UVC sterilization chamber that delivers up to 99.99%+ cleaner indoor air.

Engineered for both performance and safety, this cost-effective solution incorporates smart sensing technology that monitors critical components and signals when replacement is needed—helping ensure uninterrupted operation. A standout feature in its class, it keeps air purification running efficiently with minimal guesswork.

Designed with a cross-flow fan, AirGuard continuously recirculates indoor air multiple times per hour. Each unit is equipped with a dual-stage filtration system—a pre-filter and either an H12 or medical-grade H13 HEPA filter—alongside a powerful 36W UVC lamp. Air is drawn in, filtered, then passed through a high-intensity UVC chamber for sterilization before being released back into the space cleaner and safer.

Leverage your commercial space and easily integrate Allanson AirGuard C600 into your public space to protect your patrons from harmful biological contaminants.
